Start off by reading up about me and the services offered to better understand what you need and if I am the best person to provide them. I promise to do the same on my end to make sure that you get the work that you deserve:
Once that is settled, let's get started:
All content will be treated with strict confidentiality, even if I decline to take on the project. In the extremely unlikely scenario where I think I may have a conflict of interest, I will let you know. In either case, any copies of the documents you provide for a project that is declined will be deleted on my end.
Project Evaluation & Proposal. I will review your request, and determine if I have the time and expertise for the service that you are requesting, and I will either respond with a Project Proposal or I will decline. This typically will be within 2-3 business days. The Project Proposal will contain an estimated time of work, cost, and delivery date, as well as a confirmation of the service to be provided. If you accept, we will move onto Project Initiation.
You are protected up to 20% time overage. For example, if I overestimated my abilities when I quoted 5 hours and it ends up taking 6 hours, you will pay only for the 5 hours that I estimated it would take. If I realize that the work will take significantly longer than anticipated (i.e. >20%), I will let you know as soon as I see this on the horizon, and you can decide whether to increase the number of hours or just have delivered what is done by the initial time quoted.
For Proofreading, Document Editing, and Scientific Editing, the estimated delivery typically falls in the 7-10 business day range. If you need a rush job, I may be able to accommodate for an increased rate depending on my queue.
Project Initiation. Once the terms of the proposal are accepted, my clock will start once I receive the document to be worked on and payment. 100% of the cost listed in the Project Proposal is due upfront.
The option of milestone payments may be available on a case-by-case basis with a 20% surcharge.
Project Delivery. I will notify you and, if you have paid in full upfront, send you the agreed-upon edited document with track changes and comments. In the case of a delivery milestone payment, the document will be sent after that payment.
Project Review. After receiving the edited document, you will have 3 business days to approve the work and move onto closeout, or to continue work. If I do not hear anything from you after 3 business days, the project will automatically move onto closeout.
If you wish to request further work on the project, a supplement to the Project Proposal will be created and payment for it will be due before continuing.
Live communication by phone or Zoom can be arranged at this stage and charged accordingly.
Project Closeout. You will receive an invoice for the work done, the hours worked, the payments made, and the balance (which should be zero). Delivery of this invoice will be considered completion of the project.
Post-Project. I only consider things completed when I am satisfied with them, and I hope that you are satisfied with my work. If you think it appropriate, I appreciate Transcript Bio Editing Services being mentioned in the Acknowledgments of any published work. Please send me a copy, and I will provide you with a 10% discount on your next project. Similarly, if you refer your colleague to Transcript Bio, both of you will get 10% off your next project.
